New Sun Moon Primogen

In the saddest transition of power ever made in Nexus, the kogurian people heard the announcement of a new primogen last wednesday. After 8 years leading Sun Moon clan, Primogeness Khaos passed away and left the leading position open. As much as their members would love to keep such position there open in her memorial, Nexus system requires a primogen to each clan. The clan has had an election to vote for who would be the successor of great Khaos.
Majority of the clan decided that he who had been primarch in Sun Moon for 2 years in the past, has been Minister of Peace in Koguryo and diviner guide would be chosen to led Sun Moon Sect in this new era. Judge Muckish was elected new primogen of Sun Moon and will have the hard job to led on the clan after the days of sorrow it went through.
Congratulations elected primogen Muckish and good luck on your new duties.

When The Sky Cried

It’s incredible how people have the power to influence on others lives without them even knowing. Here in Nexus is no different. Each and everyone who comes have a special purpose, have a life, have a history and many stories to tell. Beyond that, there’s some who have the gift of being there for everybody, not because they need to be there, either for money or glory, but simply for the reason of being helpful.
Those helpful people sometimes are needed more than they can even imagine. In the folklore of some southern tribes, the Gods are the ones who watch over them, care for them, over night and day. Such protectors are represented by the Sun and the Moon. When the Sun is need of an extra light, he calls upon people from Earth to become stars and we’ve seen that in Nexus that can happen.
What happened in Nexus about a week ago was exactly that. The sky shinned brighter as the Sun and the Moon were filled stronger. Constant rain represented a different thing although. The sky was crying. The sky cried not because it was hurt, but because he could no longer see a brilliant person walking among nexus roads anymore. Such person is now above the skies, watching all over us.
She, who led the Sun and Moon followers for eight years, has joined the celestials with the purpose of watching us. The kindness, caring, inspiring and wise person that she was will now guide us from above. Yet, it is sad to realize we lost the presence of such a good spirit among us in mortal’s realm. It’s sad that we won’t be able to see her walking and or hear her voice of wisdom again giving us advice. Because of that, Nexus cries. A tear drops from each one’s eyes when they read that Khaos is no longer with us. Yet, people realize that we’ve been blessed to have been able to divide our lives for many good years with such person. She’ll truly be missed and hope her example of kindness can inspire other people around.
Good bye leader of primogens, thank you for all you’ve done!
 ((In June 19th , Khaos has passed away in real life and therefore in game. Nexus Atlas would like to pay homage to such a special community member that should always be remembered. A leader not just of a clan, but of all Nexus. Nexus Forums Back!

The forums are back up, but everything after February is gone. Should we be able to get a more recent backup of the forums we may use that, but we would lose everything that you post between now and then. That being the case, it would have to happen pretty soon or it wouldn't be worth it.
If you notice any problems when using the forums, please report them.

Nexus Forums

So the original plan was that we were going to upgrade the forums to Version 2.3 around July 1st as a little something for the 10th Anniversary.. that will probably happen a bit late now since we have to start over from scratch on that.
Here's where things are now.
We seem to have a backup of the forums from the morning of February the 29th. I say seem because Ally said there were some errors on the install. It does seem to be working correctly, but that's still as version 2.1 and without a test for 2.3 yet.
I don't want to lose the last 4 months, but I don't know if we'll be able to get in contact with IceSpadez or not.
What I'm thinking we should do is open up the Feb 29th backup (after the staff tests it a bit) right away. If we get in contact with Icespadez soon enough, we can maybe get a backup from mid-July, but we'll lose everything you post between now and then.
If too much time passes while trying to wait for IceSpadez, we'll just give up on that and keep the Feb 29th version. Either way, I would like to have it up in a day or two. Of course, that's assuming that the Feb 29th version is working correctly after we test it.

Update for Nexus Atlas

I've been working to get things back to normal. The forums have been restored with my most recent backup (Feb. 29, 2008). If I can get in touch with IceSpadez before Rachel and I upgrade the forum software, I can restore the most recent data on the forums. If not....all of the posts after 2/29 are gone. If you have created a new user or changed your password then you'll have to redo that. Right now the Forums are disabled for everyone except Nexus Atlas Staff.
If you are a staff member, PLEASE read this post. We need to verify that everything is working properly before enabling the forums. If you know a staff member, give them a poke in the ribs and ask them to check it out.
On to other things....all of the databases have been restored as of 2/29 too. Unfortunately that means I've lost 4 months of development and input. All of the spell pages are back. The cave level chart is back. Maps are back with a few images missing. Armor, Weapons and Monster pages are hit and miss. The ones that don't show up mean there is some programming I will have to do again. It also means I may have an awful lot of data input to do!
If anyone knows how to get in touch with Icespadez then ask him to contact me. Don't send me the contact information. I've got his email and phone number already. Hopefully I can restore everything if I can contact him.
If you are the type that loves checking stuff out, make up a list of images that are missing. Any other stuff that is missing EXCEPT the armor, weapons and monster pages. I already know about them and I'm working on them right now. Send me those lists and I'll put them on my to do agenda.
I want to thank all of you who donated to Nexus Atlas. It's because of your generosity that I've been able to get another web host. Our current host is Host Gator and we've got the best non-business account. They promise 99.9% uptime and they are rated as the best web host around. (Well at least in the top 5 depending on the reviewer.) I've paid for 3 months while we check them out and if all goes well, I'll renew for 2 years. That means you won't have to go through this for a long time to come...hopefully never!

The News While We Were Out

While Nexus Atlas was down, a few important things happened in Nexus that are worth of being registered as news. All are old news for majority of community but still, for others who aren’t registered currently the Nexus Atlas news is their only source of being aware of the latest happenings in the Kingdom of Winds. Here’s what has happened in the past days:
The bug affecting very few players who have lost their Legend marks has been worked on. KRU is still testing if it has been corrected. The reason behind it was that character could only hold so much data till things just went missing.
The Wisdom star moved into range again giving bonus experience to all sorts of activities. The phenomenon occurred between June 19th and June 23rd and during that period all vortex bosses were removed for people to enjoy experience hunting.
In response to many foreign players being upset to not be able to participate in the King Muhyul’s picture book promotion, KRU decided to hold a similar one for foreigners. The benefits are quite similar to the previous one. You purchase a 3300 Kruna cupon and win in-game prizes:
(1) in-game bank slot
(1) in-game legend mark (Different from the book event)
(1) a special Gift token for random item
To keep fairness, those who participated in the first promotion to US residents only won’t be allowed to participate in this one. Yet, residents who didn’t do the first one do have a chance to do it, even not being foreigners. The promotion will last from June 20th up to June 29th.
Here are the reset changes from June 12th and 15th:
* Minor fix for Do path
* Dharma received update to Council Chamber
* Forsaken received updated portals from their clan hall
* Lost Kingdom received Jewelry buy backs (Small amber/dark rings, medium amber rings, and Large amber rings)
* Phoenix received a gemming reactor and 10 more Ginko trees. NPC Generosity now buys Tarnished yellow amber
* Silla’s NPC Teppan-Yaki will now withdraw and deposit
Other:
* Large amount of updates for the July 1st event
* Large Item shop update for July
* More work on the new item shop website has been done
* Sa san will most likely be pushed back only a few weeks do to all the path balance that is still being worked on. We still do expect this to be ready for sometime in July and will keep you posted.

News is Back!

I've still got lots of work to do but finally Coranto is working again. Now the reporters can start reporting! Wisdom Star is supposed to end sometime this morning so get your minor quests done while you can still get 150% experience.
I'll be uploading the rest of the databases today so hopefully the forums will be back but you won't like it. That last good backup I have is from August 2007. I can try to upload my March 2008 backup again but it says part of it is corrupted. Since it's just a SQL file maybe I can edit and fix that. Rachel tells me that she's going to upgrade the forums before she makes them available so look for that soon.
I apologize for not having weapons, armor and cave levels available to you, especially during Wisdom Star when everyone needed it most.

New Koguryo Army General

A loyal soldier for over 50 yuris, the General of Koguryo Army, Neocloud has decided it was his time to step down. He who took up the position in Hyul 10, has served the kingdoms leading the royal army for 6 good Hyuls of peace in the lands of the winds.
In his place, he appointed Rammstein to be the new leader of the military force and now he remains as a retired member of KRA's high office. Rammstein is the 5th General in KRA history and the 7th in chronology.
Nexus Atlas would like to congratulate General Rammstein on his new position and thanks NeoCloud for his deeds to community overall.

RiaDora has once again taken the place of Elder in Gallum's place. Although Gallum's time as Elder was short, he was well-respected and showed his dedication.

The Kruna promotion giving out the special gifts is almost over. The comic book "Kingdom of Winds" written by Kim Jin and signed by Mug are already being sent out. Together with it comes the codes that give to each who purchased the 3300 Kruna coupon the following in-game benefits:

Today Mug went over some updates that will be happening within the month of June:
Item Shop
A large item shop release will happen in June with new colored bathing suits, visors and sandals. We will release a new face, new hair and new wigs.
Wisdom Star post
King MuHyul's astrology and alchemy advisor has heralded the return of the Wisdom Star. In one moon's time, the three celestial minors will be in alignment and the Wisdom Star will wake from its slumber, bathing us all in its pure light.
Scholars and swordsmen alike have always anticipated the coming of the sacred star, as with its light comes good fortune. When the star finds its niche in the night sky, its radiance envelops mortal minds and sharpens their wits, thus inducing all walks of life the ability to gain better experience on the challenges that reside in hunting lairs.
Some of the greatest achievements of the past were made during the high rise of the Wisdom Star, and now, once again, the opportunity to reach great goals is nearing. Let us all rejoice in the Wisdom Star's return!
