Past News
Did you miss that important news story? Do you want to read what happened while you were on vacation. Here's where to get that info!

Note: In January 2006, NexusAtlas moved to a new server and a new ISP. In that process the software that manages our news archives dropped its links. We do not know exactly why that happened nor are we able to fix it without support from someone who knows the software. Therefore, we are calling news prior to March 2006 "Archived News" and it can be accessed by the link below.

Mug's Response
Posted by: Rachel -- 3:30 PM EST

Mug posted this on the community board:

last night was an immortal forum not an official KRU interactive forum.
it it was official for KRU we would of had all parties there who work on game.
this was a chance for you to get to know archons but very few of you had any questions for them.

for the official KRU forum we would give long advance notice of this not a few days.

while i not able to give exact times for things i working on, i do want to know what players are most interested in.
this would not be matters like graphics and sound but more about what things you would like to see added to make game more for you.

make a list:

most important to me:
1)
2)
3)

thank you.

Post your ideas on this NexusForums thread.

Forum Failure
Posted by: Rachel -- 12:50 AM EST

An open forum should give players a chance to interact with the people running the game in a personal setting. This was nothing of the sort. Though Nexus has held several successful forums in the past, they decided to scrap those formats in exchange for an entirely saged forum.

Questions were asked incorrectly and avoided all the same.

We were told that many new things are on the way but take time, some things aren’t planned, and many things may possibly happen in the near future.

All we really learned is that they’re afraid to take positions; they’re holding back all of their completed additions for a large patch, and that our new events archon thinks that player run mini-games are an acceptable substitution for real events:

bread: Is the events archon planning on holding at least one major event per month ?

Maiyu (Event archon) : "Major event" is a little vague but I assme you are refering to cave events. Such events take time and co-ordination with the GM: there is a multitude of roleplay events that happen day in and day out. The better the community is at supporting each other (and behaving) the more events we can have.

Apparently sages on the entire Kugnae server were disruptions to the forum, rather than the fault of poor planning. They could have disabled sage, put the forum on a different server, or simply let people press F6 since elder sage is immune to it.

So when Vini asked why the question he submitted was changed, he was sent to timeout holding jail for violating non-existant laws. I got to visit him when I asked why they wait so long to add content for a single patch. We weren't the only ones sent away for saging a single time in Kugnae, some of the sages didn't have anything to do with the forum at all. Though, several other sages were ignored completely, there were people who saged over 3 times and nothing happened, Mug event answered some of the uncalled sages so that wasn't such a problem to him.

Yulli isn’t the only one who’s upset...since when is asking questions immature?

For a complete list of the questions and answers, Songa put them all into a single image.

To read them in text form and post give your opinions, please visit Moraghul's thread on NexusForums.

Fun in the Sun
Posted by: Gilley -- 10:23 PM EST

Saturday was a perfect day in Kugnae for a Summer Beach party! The sun was out and the breeze was light. The Royal Ministry of Koguryo hosted a day long series of events to entertain the kingdoms on the white sands of Dae Shore. The Kugnae Fairgrounds were open early for any Clans or Subpaths that wished to participate in the fun. SunMoon Clan, LostKingdom Clan and the Druid path were there as well as The Ministry of Nagnang in all their purple splendor. Chancellor Asuza, Liatris and Pishi kept the fairgrounds alive for the early part of the day with activities and games for visitors.

Among the various events presented was Seaweed Dodge where participants could throw smelly fish and stinky seaweed at each other. mug appeared with a comment about the smell and decided to watch in his own Summer gear.

A little later on, the Royal Swimsuit Competition drew a lot of bathing beauties who wanted to compete for the title of "Bathing Beauty" and "Trunks Hunk." A surprise visit from the Archons delighted the audience but when Yulli and YunHee wanted to compete, the crowd went wild! We found out Yulli has a sense of humor under that stoic exterior.

The day slowed down as the sun started to set. With a Scavenger Hunt going on, the Archons shared some quiet chats with members of the community before they went home to the clouds.

All in all, it was a fun, busy day in sunny Kugnae. Let's hope too many didn't get sunburned!

A funeral interupted.
Posted by: Songa -- 12:34 AM EST

Tonight, Prince Kija, King SuroKim, and Blight held a funeral for the most
recently departed Queen Filia, and Blight's servants: Cook Bibimap and
Cleaner Kanaye.

Things were going as anyone can hope for a funeral, when suddenly the
voice of Queen Filia's murderer, Wiyae, was heard over the winds.
Prince Kija immediately ran out of the Nagnang Palace, followed by
King SuroKim, Blight, and everyone present. The citizens of the lands were
commanded by Prince Kija to find Wiyae at once. After much searching,
he was found fleeing Nagnang. No one is sure to where he ran to.

Among the chaos, several citizens began to fight. They were reminded that
if we wish for our Kingdoms as a whole to be safe, we must stop Wiyae
before he strikes again. Prince Kija said Wiyae may not just be interested in
Nagnang's lands, and all other lands are in potential danger. He urged for all
citizens to not only look in Nagnang, but every land for where Wiyae is hiding.

I urge everyone to set aside their petty differences, and fight for the greater
good of our Kingdoms. It is no longer about your own land. For while Nagnang
has suffered a great loss.. the wound can only grow larger if we fight with each other.

Archons and Justice on 3rd Party Programs
Posted by: Hatiki -- 3:45 AM EST

Head Judge Teragg has recently posted on the Community Board about the recent amount of people who have been using 3rd party programs and the consequences.

Below is the post taken from Community Board.

The Gods have spoken, and the recent influx of increased use of 3rd party programs MUST END.

To that end....the policy will be a jailing on sight after
prescribed steps are taken. There will be no further warnings for use of 3RD PARTY PROGRAMS.

TAKE HEED FOLKS.....NO FURTHER WARNINGS!!

I cannot make it any clearer than that.

Funeral fit for a Queen
Posted by: Hatiki -- 12:59 AM EST

After the events that have unfolded the past week and the truth of Queen Filia leading to her death, Prince Kija, has made arrangements for the funeral of his fallen mother, honoring her legacy. This funeral will also honor Blight's Chef, Bibimbap and Cleaner, Kanaye. The funeral will be on Friday July 27 with a time to be announced.

Below is Prince Kija's post, which can be found on the Chronicles of the Winds.

To all Citizens of Nagnang and her Allies,

Great tragedy has struck Nagnang recently. Shortly after welcoming her Queen back, she has had to say goodbye again. A few short days before that, General Blight lost two of his loyal servants. All of this because of the wicked Wiyae, a fallen tutor of Kaya and villainous murderer. Jealousy and bitterness corrupted his heart, and thus he has sought revenge against everything my mother loved, myself included. Finally, for her refusal to deny her heart, Wiyae slew her.

We will honor her legacy. We will lay her to rest in a manner befitting a Queen, although even her body was cruelly taken from us. We will also honor Chef Bibimbap and Cleaner Kanaye, who lost their lives but saved both mine and Blight's.

The ceremony will be held within the week in the Nagnang Grand Hall. ((Friday, July 27th, 2007.)) I hope many will show up to help me honor these fallen spirits.

Queen Filia Assassinated
Posted by: Vini -- 12:35 AM EST

It did not take long for the truth behind Filia’s possession came public. The first time he appeared in the lands of the winds, people didn’t know what his intentions were; after all he had freed the royals from Yieta evil spells. Only thing that people knew was that he was caught for murder and was rumored to have killed thousands, or so Prince Kija said.

What Prince Kija didn’t know was that it was him this whole time behind the death of his father, the evil sorcerer, Wiyae, a fallen tutor of Kaya. He, who was master of Yieta before she aligned with Mupa, has been keeping Filia for a long time under powerful sorcery which allowed him to take full control of her actions. Therefore, he had been keeping the Queen under his magic for quite a long time, as she was possessed long ago when King Zhou was murdered by her hands.

How the wizard managed to cast such a spell without being noticed is as uncertain as to which are his true intentions behind this. But such long term possession was about to end. Wiyae revealed himself today inside Nagnang Throne room where he was confronted by Nagnang soldiers. While then, Filia was driven to escape from her special guest room inside the Army barracks to the throne room.

Nangen guards rushed and called Prince Kija from his chambers, but everything was happening so fast that the Prince did not have much time to act. All he could do was watch his dear mother being assassinated just in front of his eyes. A cold blood murder with no mercy and straight into the heart, a staff hitting filled with dark magic enough to not let the healers present to aid in anyway. Prince Kija even tried to get people to help save his mother but the efforts were in vain. A loud scream echoed all over the kingdom of the winds. The Queen in Exile, Lady Filia has died just there, in Kija’s arms.

Filia starts losing conscience while people around keep trying to heal her.

Witnessing the death of his mother and seeing the true person behind the murder of his father just in front of him, Kija was consumed by anger and the only thing he could think of was vengeance. The Prince wanted to kill the sorcerer, but was not fast enough. His emotional state did not make him quick enough to counter the attack and Wiyae managed to escape unharmed.

Kija points his blade to Wiyae and threatens to kill him.

The people who were still shocked with what they had just seen left the palace in a rush. Nagnang army troops, Nangen clan militias and caring people quickly formed scouting groups within the gates of the kingdom but were not able to catch Wiyae around. The murderer is still on loose and unpunished. In order to catch him, the Nagnang Army is drawing plans on how to attract him back to the spotlight and stop him for once and for all.

Attempted Royal Murder
Posted by: Vini -- 8:00 PM EST

Nagnang - As promised by the old Nagnang defender, Blight, the doors to Herbarium have been opened today to public who would want to witness the meeting between him and Filia. Community has been waiting at the doors for quite a while to be able to enter the Herbarium once again.

People stand at the gate in Herbarium waiting to be able to enter to Blight's chamber.

Prince Kija was also allowed to come, but his royal army was kept at a certain distance. A dinner was held in Blight’s chamber with the presence of Filia, her son Kija and the two cooks, chef Bibimbap and Kanaye. Blight took such opportunity to hear more of how Filia has been doing in these years. Both seemed really close and Prince Kija a bit uncomfortable with it.

Blight has Kija and Filia to dinner in his table, but keeps the Nagnang Army at certain distance.

As the meeting went on, Blight and Prince Kija kept exchanging offenses. Fed by the public’s opinions at sometimes the quarrel got to extreme situations and Filia seemed to react quite tolerant on Blight as if they had close relations in the past. When asked about where King Suro Kim of Kaya, guest to Nagnang was, the answer given was that he would join them soon.

Bibimbap and Kanaye seem a bit nervous working together on the food. Cooking for the Prince isn't easy.

While Kija and Blight kept talking, Filia proceeded to the kitchen to help Bibimbap and Kanaye with the food. The two cook seemed a bit trouble being watched to cook and eventually broke plates and made a mess. While then, Filia was seen dropping something suspicious in the food and in the tea. Filia went back to the table where her son and Blight kept going on with their dispute.

Filia starts messing with the food and drops something suspicious. Kanaye was uncomfortable to question what she was doing.

The discussion between the two kept going and started to get really bad. Accusations were made from both sides and such only stopped when the dinner arrived. The Prince had been warned by his soldiers about the strange things that were dropped in the food. They suspected of poison. Therefore, the chef went ahead and proved the food before the guests would and the result was no surprise. The food was indeed poisoned. Bibimbap soon fell on the floor, Mr. Clean Kanaye was shocked, he couldn’t believe the food was poisoned and tasted it as well. His brave action resulted in the same fate, Kanaye fell dead just near his friend.

Bibimbap gets shocked to see Kanaye dead after proving the food.

The proof was there; the food that was to be served was poisoned and done by Filia herself. She got really mad that her plans failed and her anger was quite noticeable. Prince Kija didn’t eat it and therefore wasn’t poisoned. At such point havoc had been started. The people in front row of the watching line broke up the barricades and invaded the scene to protect the Prince. Blight while watching his two best cook dead screamed: “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” “MY FAMILY!” - extremely annoyed by what happened, Blight started screaming for everyone to leave his house.

The Nagnang Army escorted Prince Kija and his mother back to their barracks while Blight got really furious and started pushing all visitors of his house like if they had any guilt in it. Although it was clear to everyone that Filia was the one who poisoned the food and that both chefs weren’t aware of it, Blight in no moment blamed her for what happened. Upon reaching the army barracks, Filia, as told by Nangen soldiers, acted completely different. Her voice changed and she asked Prince Kija if they were getting ready to go to dinner. Prince Kija explained her that they had already gone and she tried to kill him. Filia got really troubled with that and left to her inner guest room inside the barracks.

The tragedy in Herbarium surely wasn’t mere coincidence. If Dusk Shaman is right about Filia being possessed for all these years, seems that the force that killed King Zhou long ago is now trying to get rid of Prince Kija. The safety of Nagnang is at danger and so Kija is offering a reward to those who can find the identity of the one who possessed his mother.

Blight reveres Filia
Posted by: Vini -- 6:18 AM EST

The return of Filia to the lands of Nagnang is revealing quite a few mysteries of the history of the kingdom. Blight has finally decided to put his view on the matter and revealed what people already suspected, that Filia is indeed Kija's mother. Not just that, he revealed the name of Kija's father whose death so long ago is being the cause of all this situation. King Zhou is how Blight referred to. Blight also revealed that he once worked in the service of the King, a quite different Blight than the one people know of these days.

Here's a copy of the post Blight made on Chronicle of the Winds, quite interesting and quite revealing:

To the once forgotten Nangen Queen,

The news of your return came swiftly from my messengers in the Nangen Court. It is long overdue, although your title was stricken from you and a mark placed on your head, those who knew you closely would surely recognize how disgustingly stupid your son's actions concerning the matter have been.

I have protected Nagnang with everything within me, and I would like to propose a meeting for old times' sake in the Herbarium. You may bring your son if you wish, but it is time for us to catch up and make you aware of how our land has been since your departure to Kaya.

It may come as a surprise to some, but I once served King Zhou and yourself for many years in my younger years. A good man, the King... his loyalties never wavered, and he knew what was best for his people. Too bad his son has not followed in those footsteps.

I knew you could never have been to blame for the murder, but your son couldn't see it and even now he still appears to be doubting you. You could never have performed such an act and due to the lies circulated after the King's murder, I left Royal service to protect Nagnang in my own ways, away from the commands of the blind Prince.

To the Prince, the spirits told you the truth but you failed to listen immediately? Do not forget the sacrifice that was made those years ago in the Herbarium. I do not doubt that spirits may lie, but my trust in the Shaman and their abilities is firm. You should, and can trust them. Do not turn a deaf ear, to do so would be to slap the face of King Zhou and your ancestors long past.

Until our meeting, Queen Filia. Stay safe, there are those that would seek to remove you from the picture now as they did those years ago.

(( Wednesday, July 25th at 5pm PST/8pm EST ))

**Blight
**The Beast of Nagnang

Although such post clears up many things, it also leaves some stuff in the air. Blight also appears to speak about the aid of the Shaman during the issues with the Wuhu Luanhua - and the sacrifice one woman made in the process. Can Kija be blamed for believing what he saw with his own eyes? Probably not. No one should specially when it deals with the death of his own father.

Woodlands drops and Creation System
Posted by: Moraghul -- 2:25 PM EST

Lately, the buzz about the Diary pages has gotten some people furious, as a debate on both nexus forums and the community board discuss the ethical right to hold secretly rare information when it is attainable by the whole community, but mostly it got a lot of people focused and reinterested again into the Creation system, with those "apparently" useless Woodlands drops.

The last Haengsa quest also helped people in the realisation that something was probably there yet to be discovered.

Nexus Atlas now has a full (as far as we know) list of plain Woodlands drop, which we hope will help those of you trying for new combinations in the creation system.

You can access the full list here :

Visit from King SuroKim!
Posted by: Gilley -- 9:52 AM EST

Last Thursday evening, King MuHyul along with General Hatiki, Royal Minister Gilley and Ambassador Maya welcomed King SuroKim from Kaya to their beloved Kugnae for a walking tour throughout the town. Also visiting was Princess Lasahn and her Imperial Army looking sharp in full regalia.

Many citizens accompanied the Royal group as they strolled from gate to gate, finally ending up at the Tree of Reflections in all its newly grown splendor. King SuroKim was impressed with the gracious welcome from King and peasant alike. Princess Lasahn then invited him to visit her own golden kingdom. The entire entourage then journeyed there to visit the citizens of Buya. King SuroKim enjoyed the smaller town with its quaint buildings and friendly inhabitants. He hopes to visit both kingdoms again soon.

Yet Filia still haven't been out in public after she has been found not guilty during the trial. Her health is still something to worry about.

Can you keep a secret?
Posted by: Rachel -- 12:56 AM EST

..not when it's from Haengsa, I can't.

There have been rumors for a long time about the existence of diary pages. I first saw them a long time ago, but due to an implied agreement I never said much. Since the contents of some of these pages have been made public, I think it’s safe to talk about it. Especially since Kru is now talking about them through Haengsa. I can only keep your secrets until they're not secret!

I’m surprised that so many people are still wondering if the pages really exist and if they really have to do with the creation system.

For answers to those questions, bring 5 Beautiful leather (Drops from snakes in the Woodlands Tako cave) and 2 Fine cloth to Haengsa in the wilderness. Haengsa will tell you what he’s up to. I didn’t much enjoy the time it took to gather the leather or feel that 2 pirate coins was satisfactory payment for my work, so I’ll share what he had to say.

It seems Haengsa has only figured out a piece of the puzzle, but I think he’ll tell us a bit more every month.

The Trial results
Posted by: Vini -- 1:48 AM EST

The jurors of the Trial of a Traitor decided and the verdict was that Filia was considered not-guilty even with Prince Kija eye witnessing her murdering his father. The jury considered that she wasn’t aware of her actions and the supposed mother of Kija is now under care of Nagnang Army.

King Suro Kim also participated in the lands and testimony in her favor. Dusk Shaman believes that Filia’s body is possessed by two spirits, one of her own and one that may be responsible for the murder of Kija’s father. The old shaman claims she’s at least possessed by some powerful magic that she cannot break.

Those who want to hear more about the arrival of Filia and how it went on her trial are welcome to read his Nagnang news in your in-nexus Newsweekly's paper, the Kingdom Tribune. It is located in each of the libraries and south of the inns.

Special thanks to Topher for posting the event image in Nexus forums.

Trial of a Traitor
Posted by: Hatiki -- 4:57 AM EST

After the events that unfolded tonight during the meeting of King SuroKim and Prince Kija, the traitor to Nagnang, Filia, who supposedly murdered, Prince Kija's father, was captured and will be facing a trial, Wednesday July 18 at 8:00 pm EST, 5:00 pm PST.

Below is Prince Kija's post, which can be found on the Chronicles of the Winds.

Citizens of Nagnang and the Tri-Kingdom Alliance,

The traitor of Nagnang has been caught at last, and can be brought to justice. She fled to Kaya and has been living in exile there for far too long, with all of the amenities of royalty. It is time she faced her fate.

She will have a fair trial, of course, but I am certain she will be convicted as is right. The trial will be held within the week in the Nagnang Royal Court. ((5:00 PM Pacific, 8:00 PM Eastern, Wednesday, July 18th.)) I hope many will attend to witness the traitor's downfall.

Jurors will be chosen at the time of the trial, and I will preside as Judge.

What events and information will unfold during Filia's trial? Time will tell.

A visit from the Kayan King.
Posted by: Songa -- 4:45 PM EST

It seems our lands will soon have a visitor from the lands of Kaya. This is not the first time Prince Kija
has had Kayan company, as his former fiance was from those lands. It is anyone's guess what they wish
to discuss .. and we can only wait for the day to figure that out.

Here is a copy of the letter from King Suro Kim, found on the Chronicles of the Winds:

His Royal Highness,
Prince Kija of Nagnang,

Hail, from Kaya, my old friend. I hope things are well in the nation of Nagnang. It has been so very long since we have spoken... so very long since we have met. I would like it very much if we could meet again and catch up. Our nations have always been close, but I feel as though your failed engagement may have given you a harsh demeanor toward Kaya as a whole. Please allow me to come see you in Nagnang, and re-solidify the once strong bonds between us.
I sincerely hope that you will accept my request, and that together our nations can prosper again. If I receive a positive reply, I will make haste and arrive in Nagnang within the moon. ((Tuesday, July 17th, 9 PM EST/6 PM PST.))

His Majesty,
King Suro of House Kim

P.S. To His Majesty King Mu-Hyul, and Her Imperial Highness Princess Lasahn, I would be honored to journey to your lands and meet you both as well, if you will have me. It has been many years since I last visited the Kingdom of the Winds. I am eager to see how things have progressed.

What does this meeting hold for the future?

Haengsa Quest
Posted by: Vini -- 3:45 PM EST

As mentioned in the reset report, Haengsa is out there with a new quest. He's hanging around west of Woodlands, close to Dharani's place. The quest this time is quite simple:
1- Bring 5 beautiful leather (Tako Cave)
2- Bring 2 Fine cloth

The reward is 2 pirate coins. Also it seems to be a hint for the new creation system items that Mug spoke about. Worth a try to make combinations with such items.

New Buya Warrior Tutor
Posted by: Vini -- 3:32 PM EST

During the beginning of the week, there has been a new tutor appointed that went without announcement so far. ShisanMusan, the head of Fox hunt hosts is now also the Buya Warrior Tutor. People might find it strange to be possible as ShindanMusan lives in Koguryo, but Head Tutor Nussan has announced that there will no longer be a requirement for the person to live in the kingdom they're assigned too. This change affects all positions and therefore opens more options to those interested in tutoring who do not wish to leave their hometown.

Those who want to hear more about ShindanMusan are welcome to read his interview and other news of the weekly, in your in-nexus Newsweekly's paper, the Kingdom Tribune. It is located in each of the libraries and south of the inns.

New Sections in Nexus Atlas
Posted by: AllyGator -- 6:01 PM EST

The Staff at Nexus Atlas have long wanted to have different news sections to cover areas that the majority of players may not have an interest in reading. We've kept our news geared to only information that is of interest to all players. We feel that not enough space has been given for other aspects of the game which give a lot of enjoyment to many players.

You may have noticed that we've added links on the section bar graphic to make it easier to switch between the news pages. This should make it painless to check out all the news.

We have plans to open a new section for Clans if we can recruit enough Primogens to report. If you are a Primogen or wish to have someone on your council act for your clan, please contact me about our current testing for the Clan News page.

Vini has done a tremendous amount of work updating our Clan section and is currently working to release a Subpath section. If your clan or subpath has not already been in contact with him to provide input, please do so.

We know we're the #1 fan site so we want to have information about every part of the game. Post on our
Information Gathering Forum section if you have ideas for new areas. But be warned! We have very few Staff members who add or edit content. You may be asked to create your own idea!

Subpath News Section
Posted by: Berig -- 3:35 PM EST

Thanks to the hard working AllyGator's want to help the subpaths give their news another method of distribution, she has introduced a new section to NexusAtlas. The Subpath News section will allow designated subpath representatives to post announcements and other news on behalf of their subpath. Be sure to check the Subpath News often.

Fox Hunt Changes
Posted by: Sebelle -- 8:21 AM EST

Fox Hunt Head Host ShindanMuSan has written up a new post on the Community board that details some changes being made to the Fox Hunt system - all fox hunts will now use the one round format that has become popular of late.

The following is ShindanMuSan's post, the original of which can be found on the Community board here.

Dear community,

We are revising the structure of fox hunts to make them more enjoyable for you. One of the problems has always been the slim chances of winning. To improve the overall odds of winning, all fox hunts will now use the popular 1 round showdown format. This means we'll do one round of the best 4 of 7 matches, instead of the traditional two rounds.

Also, we would like to give you a bigger imput into the game. Some people have n-mailed me ideas for fox hunt themes. I would like to give this a certain place in our schedule. For now, the -Sunday noon fox hunt- will be used as a creative slot. For each week, you can mail

Foxhunt, our secretary

your suggestions. I will decide which suggestions are practical and approve them if so. I will post the resulting theme on the community event board and the fox hunt board and we'll host the game accordingly. This will start next Sunday, watch for the theme on said boards.

The Saturday 2pm FH will change as well. This will become a game where the popular themes from Sunday's wild card are used (and possibly new themes from our staff). There will be several themes from which you can choose and vote accordingly. The themes will be posted on the CE and FH board as well. In the post you will be asked to vote by whispering a designated host. He or she will sage the result and use the theme. This will start either next Saturday or the Saturday after, depending on the community imput.

There are more changes underway to improve the quality of the game. You'll be informed as soon as they are definite.

See you all at the fox hunts and enjoy the game!

Carnage Host Positions
Posted by: DrSin -- 10:16 PM EST

For those older than four Yuri's, with no justice brands, and 20+ carnage participations, carnage host applications are now being accepted!

More Details about how to apply and what the requirements are can be read here, or on Community Events post #621.

A new carnage hall will be opening in the new area that comes with the new addition we've all been waiting for- perhaps carnages will be hosted more frequently with some new maps to battle in.

A few thoughts about the Large Addition
Posted by: AllyGator -- 11:23 AM EST

On Nexus Forums there has been a long discussion about what the large addition could be and why it's taking so long to be released. Many members of the community have tested and made comments. The earlier post was cleared for release by mug.

I have had the priviledge of testing this area and have a few thoughts of my own. This area is something that players have asked for many times. A place for young ones to learn, meet others that they can be friends with for a long time and keep "newbs" who abuse the free trial from hanging around and annoying the rest of us. There are lots of benefits with having this area. They will learn about banking, hunting, spells, clans and subpaths. There will even be a new carnage area for them! This will make a more enjoyable experience for everyone. People will have a much better idea of what Nexus, The Kingdom of the Winds is about.

PS - those of us who have been lucky enough to test have spent a bit of time taking to mug. We've come to understand that this is not the only thing he is working on. The poor guy is always having to jump to other projects while the testers run around looking for more stuff to add fix.

mug says, "i smile here."

Large Addition
Posted by: AllyGator -- 10:55 AM EST

I had a brief chat with mug this morning where I asked him about the long promised large addition. Mug said the new update was meant to come out by the end of may 2007. In his own mugspeak he said, "i have many other things i work on besides just project. When i started project it was small idea but over time it begin to grow. It grew so much this why it taking longer than expected."

The large addition is a new area to help new players who haven't played before. The old tutorial is not helpful and many players do not stay because they find no one to hunt with or guide them. This project will help end those problems and give the game a fresh new start for players who come to try it. I think this is important for the growth of Nexus, Kingdom of the Winds. When the new area is ready each player will get to test the new area. Or everyone can make new characters and try it. Oh yes, the new area is as large as one of the kingdoms!

Teragg on "Gambling Myths"
Posted by: Sebelle -- 3:46 AM EST

Head Judge Teragg has written a post on the Community board detailing information on a popular past time within our Kingdoms, Gambling.
It goes into detail about Archon Primarch Yulli's Gambling agreements that each party is supposed to use, as well as other methods one can use to make a binding agreement before gambling.
If you would like to view the original post, you can find it in game (post 348) or at the online board directory here!
You can also find Archon Primarch Yulli's gamble laws on the Law board, or here (first post) and here (second post).:

The following is Head Judge Teragg's post on the matter:

Okies, been a while...too long....since my "weekly" help posts here on comm. I decided this is a good topic to start them back up.
If your interested in learning what is legal, and what isn't, read on. If not, we can discuss it sooner or later in court, works either way for me.

GAMBLING

Some time back, Yulli spent quite a bit of time formulating a written text template, to help protect players who wish to partake in this.
It's quite detailed, as any procedure must be. Many choose not to use it, a few do. At least most have at least made a partial attempt, and do some of it.
It was designed to offer pretty much a foolproof protection to both sides of a gamble agreement. But, understand this......

It does not relieve any culpability in any gamble.
It is not a "get out of jail free card".

ANY GAMBLE, if documented with ss, will constitute a documented agreement, and will be binding on either party, if the screenshots taken are sufficient evidence.
Yulli's template makes it ironclad..a no brainer for judges. If not used, then the value of the ss will determine if action can be taken or not.
The template offers maximum protection. Justice will take up the slack on what is left over when it isn't used.
So... for all you who figure....np, if I loose, I'll just take off or log, etc.
The crime has been committed right there and now its just a question of whether Justice has enuff evidence to prosecute.
If you don't pay, or can't afford the gamble, or even plan to just run off....now pay attention, this is the hard part.......DON'T DO IT.
Not sure what more I can add to that. To EVERYONE who likes to gamble....I can't stress this enuff.....See that scroll
lock button sitting there on your keyboard?....push it when you decide to risk your money.

Banner change
Posted by: AllyGator -- 4:52 PM EST

We hope you all enjoyed our Lucky Banner from yesterday. As promised it was only there for one day - a day that only comes once in a century!

I'd like to let everyone know about our talented staff of graphics folks. They have done an incredible job of making Nexus Atlas resemble the game we love. For that reason we've made a page commemorating those banners. We will be adding to those graphics in the future. So if you want to see our various graphics of the past please go to:

July 7, 2007 is a Lucky Day
Posted by: AllyGator -- 11:23 AM EST

For today Nexus Atlas is abandoning all pretense of being Ancient Korea and celebrating the lucky numbers of 777. Three 7's in America is the winning number in casinos and other gambling establishments. It's become a synonym for luck of all types. Today is 07/07/07 and lucky.

Our talented graphics guru Koinu made a special banner for us. Nexus Atlas wishes a Happy Lucky Day to you all.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Posted by: TSWolf -- 4:30 PM EST

It's good to be posting here on Nexus Atlas! It's been quite a while since I've had the honor. I wanted to give everyone a little update on exactly whats been going on.

We had a server move a couple weeks back. I was called in to help with the technical stuff. Seeing as I designed and setup the old framework of things, I was basically consulting the guys here on whats what and so on. That would give you an explanation on the temporary server outage.

As for NexusForums, we're in a little bit more of a predicament. Technically, everything is fine and dandy.. Ready to go. But there's a bit more than that.

Since everyone here at NexusAtlas wants to remain impartial to exactly what occurred, I decided I would be best suited to explain whats going on.

As many of you recall, and can find in the news archives, we had an extremely successful fundraiser for NexusForums a couple years back. Through this, we were able to purchase a lifetime license to the board and forever throw away any security worries that have plagued us in the past (I know we'd all like to never repeat those!).

With management over here changing around, one of our staff members, Conro, has recently decided he will no longer administrate the site. Upon deciding so, we began transferring administration information to AllyGator as your new admin.

For a very long time, they co-ran everything here. The only role I played was to ensure that NexusAtlas maintained its integrity should such a situation arise.

Unfortunately, problems have occurred with the transfer.. Ironically, I almost wish they were technical. But, we could only be so lucky.

Conro has decided that because of a chunk of donation he paid for the board, that he will not give up the rights to it. This causes NexusForums to be presently invalidated, as we need full control of the license to legally put the board up (since it was a single board license).

While this may cause a delay in the return of the forum, it is not the end. I have full record of everything done within those days, and receipts, information, and a little time this weekend to hopefully sort everything out in a peaceful manner.

It's unfortunate when we lose a great player to Nexus, and even worse when they feel it's necessary to act irrationally.

At this time, I am asking no donations to made in this. Your money was spent for the purposes of that license for this website, and so it shall. If for some reason this cannot be resolved, I will be more than happy to assist in a new license.

Throughout the years, the viewers of this website have been active, caring, and overly generous people. They've taught me and I'm sure this entire staff plenty of things, especially when some of us lost our cool or had rough days.

We all have our moments.. I'm assured all of this will blow over in a peaceful way.

BUT, in other news, and to Ally's surprise, I've been gathering and organizing old Nexus Beta and 3.0 material to ship out. Since she's the craziest mapper, it's only proper she helps revive those old maps. So expect some classic stuff from her.. and hey.. Maybe I'll write up some old event stuff.

Thank you all for your patience in this matter! And have a great holiday weekend.

New Pawns and Promotion
Posted by: Moraghul -- 12:17 PM EST

Yesterday, Yulli announced the arrival of three new Pawns in the Kingdoms. Blanca, Hyien and Zarashi are now part of the Archon family, give them a warm welcome.

I haven't been able to find out what will exactly be Blanca's role yet, but the Guide board states that Hyien will take over Archon Juste's position who resigned yesterday as Pawn of the Carnage and Fox hunts departments, and Zarashi will be working for Kugnae's institutions such as the Ministry and Army.

Staying on the immortal family, the announcement was made last night that Alilolelotte graduated from the Pawn school and is now an Archon. We wish her the best and as it seem to have been asked by a good number of persons, here's the pronounciation of her name :

On a side note, Mug announced today that the last fireworks show took place. We'd like to extend our thanks to Mug for this technical performance and remind kids not to play with explosives!

I'd like to say hello to everyone as the newest reporter on Nexus Atlas and thank the staff for the opportunity after having contributed in different ways over the years.

Thank you everyone for your attention and we'll see each other again soon ! ;)

Moraghul,

The Return of Kingdom Tribune
Posted by: Vini -- 12:45 AM EST

The Kingdom Tribune board is back. The one and only in-nexus source of news is active again and will be posted weekly for all readers to enjoy. With a different type of journalism, this newspaper will try to gather together the most important happenings and curiosities over the week and bring to public knowledge. The Kingdom Tribune board can be found south of Kugnae inns and Buya inns and can also be accessed via Nexus TK boards link.

An association of Nexus Atlas with the Kogurian Ministry brought back to action this wonderful feature that nexus has had for such a long while and wasn't being read much. One of the main reasons for such is that people hardly ever came to know when a new issue was out. Because of that, Kingdom Tribune will have a new icon here on Nexus atlas, and everytime a new issue is available there this icon will be available under the latest news posting here at the Atlas.

Also, the staff has agreed to try to close the issue by every Wednesday to make a habit to the readers to always check for it on Wednesdays. So the new habit of news readers will be to check it on Wednesday or at maximum on Thursdays. Surely everyone is curious about what changes this new format of Kingdom Tribune brings, and here is how it will work. Each week it will have 7 sections: International news, News of Koguryo, Buya and Nagnang, Culture Articles with Horoscope inside, an interview and an Editorial written with the opinion of the editor.

As a tease to what can be found in the board, here's a short passage of the Editorial which took these festive dates to talk about something that has changed a lot with nexus in the past year, the arrival of the new GM. So here it goes:

In the past year, the lands of Nexus have changed a lot. It was 400 days ago when the community first heard of the name of a certain someone who would come to make history in the Kingdom of Winds. He's called Mug and has a habit of just drinking coffee. Right at the start people noticed some things would change in the matters of Gods relations with people. The Dream Weavers board which was rarely used as a form of communication turned into the constant report of resets, updates and major changes to the realm.

For those who are interest to read more about it, visit one of the Kingdom Tribune boards in nexus lands or just click in the link: Kingdom Tribune Online.

Just now the community witnessed the last of the fireworks show of the 9th anniversary as a reset just came and marked the end of these festive days. During a dark time at the day, the community said goodbye to the double experience bonus they've had all the weekend but still kept their anniversary swords for a while longer.

Congratulations to Nexus The Kingdom of Winds on it's 9th anniversary and being one of the longest running MMORPG ever.
