These asps were summoned by Medusa. When you enter the room the first thing she does is blind and scourge you then she summons about 10 or 20 snakes. She doesn't physically hit you with spells but the snakes do and believe me being hit by 20 snakes at once that do about 1k per zap is not a fun experience. I think I lasted all of about 10 seconds.
